Pride Service
Glazed porcelain, custom ceramic decals, and gold luster
Pride Service II is a series of 36 porcelain plates responding to contemporary events in the LGBTQ+ community. Individually, each plate depicts recent attacks on or defenses of Queer rights. 18 new plates respond to the first 100 days of Trump’s second term, while the other 18 were thrown in 2023, an era that the Human Rights Campaign has dubbed a “National State of Emergency”.
Pride Service II depicts events ranging from protests to protect trans+ healthcare and expressions of queer solidarity to the hate-driven legislation that seeks to erase our community. Each plate collages personal photographs with imagery from media reporting to construct a collective narrative of LGBT+ experiences. Rendered in porcelain and 22-karat gold, these plates honor the dignity of queer activism while literally bringing these issues to the kitchen table.
