Mentwab Easwaran (Mentu) is an Ethiopian-born visual artist and designer based in the Washington, D.C. area. Having immigrated to the United States at 21, she explores the intersections of culture, identity, and creative expression. With 28 years of design experience, she has continued to cultivate her artistic practice, drawing inspiration from the resilience of Ethiopian immigrants. Her work explores migration, belonging, and perseverance through rich textures, layered symbolism, and evocative storytelling. Committed to fostering dialogue and connection, Mentu uses art to bridge cultures, amplify unheard voices, celebrate shared humanity, and inspire transformation.
