โ€œFanโ€

C.S. Corbin

โ€œFanโ€ is part of a series of works that redefine what objects are deemed as holy relics. This piece takes traditional stained glass techniques, often associated with churches, to honor the use of fans in queer spaces as tools for performance, sound, and protection. A take on the church fan, it is a recognizable symbol of togetherness and ritual.

C.S. Corbin is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, and illustration in Washington, D.C. Corbin earned their Studio Art degree from Florida State University in 2013 and pursued their creative practice full-time in 2020. Through vibrant colors and surreal imagery, Corbinโ€™s art explores themes of identity and queer history.
